Joyport, a game developer based in China, has just released Infinite Realms, a new real time strategy MMO Facebook game set in a futuristic environment.
Similar to most real time strategy games, Infinite Realms offers you a chance to expand your territory and army, and ultimately to take control of the world map. As many know, strategy games can be quite overwhelming at first glance, and Infinite Realms has a tutorial at the start, and informs the basics of the game quite well to the players.
Once completing the tutorial and knowing the basics, you can head straight into the game. There are optional missions you can follow, and it is well recommended as completing them will earn you rewards, helping you to progress in the game much quicker. You can build various structures on your outpost, such as barracks, hero lounge, radar tower, rations depot, and an armory. When all players start the game, they are placed in newbie protection mode. This prevents other players from attacking you, and it is a good time to start preparing your defenses and troops. As soon as you upgrade your command centre to level 2, you will exit newbie protection and will be open to attack.
As with all strategy games, gathering resources is a major objective. Different resources are required for different actions, such as materials needed to build specific buildings, or to train your troops. Five major resources in the game are; Rations, Verdium, Lucium, Credits and Population. All of these are obtained in different ways, some have specific buildings that produce the material, they can be obtained by raiding enemies’ outposts, or even earned for performing some actions.
For a Facebook game, Infinite Realms has some stunning graphics, and the game is quite in-depth and has a long shelf life. Games like this are made for multiplayer, and it has a good social platform to lift off from. Facebook has a whole variety of games, but a good real time strategy is all that’s missing, and it seems Infinite Realms can fill that void, if it manages to fill its huge potential and attract the players it needs to boost it’s popularity.
