In Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora, you spend most of your time combating the RDA and helping the various clans around the western frontier. The bonds you make will determine how successful you are, as the clans give rewards and gear for your help. Without them, you may struggle to get by.
Is Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Worth It?
The Western Frontier awaits you, but is it worth exploring?
As you approach the end of the game, there’s a lot that happens quickly. Some questions are left unanswered, and the ending can be a little confusing if you haven’t been paying attention. However, we’re here to help make it more clear. Here’s what you need to know about the ending of Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora.
The Ending, Explained
When you finally destroy the charge set to destroy the western frontier, you and Teylan barely escape the facility and leave Mercer behind in the destruction. Teylan gets into the Scorpion with Ri’nela and your ikran saves you from certain destruction. Together, you reconnect with everyone overlooking the forests of Pandora.
Ri’nela and Alma talk about the future of Na’vi, and while Alma wants to start fresh as a family, there’s simply too much hurt from the TAP program and the past to do so. Instead, Ri’nela talks about walking a new path to rebuild the Sarentu clan without letting the scars of the past influence the future.
Alma is proud of you and the others, and will be welcomed as an ally. You follow Ri’nela and Teylan to the edge of the cliffs with a bright and unclear future ahead of you. Ri’nela will likely lead the Sarentu clan as you rebuild it, and Teylan will discover what becoming Sarentu means to him. As for you, you’re free to do as you wish.
Does Mercer Die?
After you race to get Teylan away from the charge, you finally confront Mercer in the RDA facility. Teylan saves you from Mercer, pinning him to the wall with the mechanical arm. You leave him there and flee with Teylan before the charge goes off.
While it’s implied that John Mercer dies in the explosion, since he’s directly next to the charge, the game doesn’t explicitly show his death. Instead, you mention that Mercer is gone and will never hurt anyone again, so it’s safe to say that Mercer is dealt with.
What Happened To Nor?
After Nor attacks Alma’s Avatar body, he runs off and you won’t see him again. Even at the end, he’s nowhere to be found. When Nor ran off, he was quite angry and hurt about learning the truth of his past. He has suffered the most emotionally at the hands of the RDA, having been old enough to remember the clan and his life before TAP.
It should also be noted that Nor makes comments about feeling distant from Eywa due to his human upbringing, and didn’t want to connect to Eywa out of fear his memories would taint her.
This further isolates him from the Na’vi and the Sarentu.
As for where Nor went, it’s unclear. He felt betrayed by Alma for murdering the Sarentu families and Aha’ri, and betrayed by you, So’lek, and the Resistance for not agreeing that Alma’s Avatar needed to die for her crimes. His actions led him to leave the Resistance altogether, without any word as to where he went.
